'You got anything for free?'

I saw the man approach the shop. I think I have even seen him before. My first thought was ...he is not buying any books.
This was prejudicial statement. I knew nothing of the man except that he was older ... 60ish ... African-American, unshaven, shuffling and wearing sweatpants ... I was being unfair. Every moment is its very own. I do not know what will happen. I am often proven wrong about people.
The cat came to greet the man at the door as she is want to do. Between wheezing noises, he made a barely audible comment about the pretty cat  ... Then he said:
'You got anything for free?'
I really never do know what will happen.
