50¢ book

I even offered to give him the book rather than break his 20 for a fifty cent book. However I did see at least one one dollar bill in his cash wad! Why give me the twenty???? Did you just want change or what. He left saying he was going to look for change but I doubt he'll be back. I do not understand these things.
